the bad beginning
The book The Bad Beginning , makes you feel like you have to duct tape your fingers to prevent yourself from biting them. I really enjoyed how the book was written, because their are a lot of nail biting parts in the b ook. “ In this book, not only is there no happy ending, there is no happy beginning and very few happy things in the middle.”

capture the flag
Three kids are related to famous people of the past and they need and get back the American Flag. An unknown man is to blame. A classic mystery book introduction.
The story begins as a party of tourists and they enter a museum to see the original American Flag created by Betsy Ross. After the tourists left the museum, an unknown man entered the museum undetected and stole the flag. Apparently, the security is supposed to block you from going in, not out. Meanwhile, three kids were sitting on a bench in the museum. These kids were not friends and barely took notice of each other. These kids end up working together to get the flag back.
Along the way you will meet many different characters, such as the three kids' parents, a boy named Sinan and his dog, a senator running for president and countless other unnamed characters. Adventures unfold in the storage area for baggage in a Washington D.C. airport.
This book is a quick, and uncomplicated to read, but it really grabs your interests. This book is full of unexpected plot twists to keep you interested. I would recommend this book to anyone who is in the mood for a crime and mystery books, but is not looking to invest a lot of time in a long book.
Overall, this book is a very enthralling book that deserves to be read by anyone who likes mystery books.
I really hope that anyone who is reading this has been helped out by my book review.

THe hunger Games (1)
“The Hunger Games “, by Suzanne Collins, is like a reading oasis for those who are longing for the book that gives your mind a never ending thought process of what will happen next. This action packed book always has a new twist that gives you the effect of, “ What if I was the ever battling Katniss Everdeen?’’ This exhilarating book is exciting and has the perfect amount of suspense. With such horrible faith, you can only wish that the odds are in your favor. This book is great and mind boggling in my opinion with an everlasting essence of amazement.
The main character in this novel, Katniss Everdeen, takes on the uphill battle of the Hunger Games in place for her younger sister when she was called during the reaping, a ceremony to name the tributes who are going to the Games. During the reaping, Primrose Everdeen was called up to go to the Hunger Games, and soon after Katniss, her older sister, gasped, “I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!” This showed how brave she is and how much she cared for her loved ones. Unfortunately, as she was waiting on a stage for the other tribute to be called, she realizes that the tribute is Peeta Mellark, or other wise known as the boy with the bread because of an incident when they were younger Katniss was starving and Peeta got in trouble for burning a loaf of bread to give to Katniss. She remembers this name from years ago, although she does not speak to him very often. This illustrates that although Katniss isn’t the most feminine, caring 16 year old girl, she still cared enough to have some emotion to the calling of his name. Katniss is a quick on her feet girl and it made me sad when events did not go the way as planned.
Katniss is not the girliest of girls but she is as people say a ‘tomboy’. She has a daily routine of waking up in the morning, sneaking out of District 12 to the woods, retrieving her bow and arrows, who used to belong to her father, and waiting for her friend Gale so that they can start another long day of collecting, hunting, and trading so that they can survive in the poverty of District 12. She is very brave and this shows throughout the book. She does not show fear although she has it built up and jumbling around inside her. She is very protective and caring over her sister. Her mother on the other hand is not the most important human to her life at the moment because when Katniss’ father died in a mining accident, she went into a deep depression. This changes later on when she finally realizes that she is longing to see her and Prim although she is at the Games.
This book has a basic theme of stay strong and be brave or you could even say that the theme was to never give up and believe in yourself since Katniss fought till the very end. This book has a kind of thought rushing, brain stopping effect. Whenever something happened to Katniss, I always thought, “Wow! What if it was me who had to make that heart breaking decision?” or “Could I really be that brave?” “The Hunger Games” is a heart stopping, addictive novel by Suzanne Collins. With an unfortunate chain of events for Katniss Everdeen, you can only wish that something will go in her favor.

The Hunger Games (2)
The story "The Hunger Games" is like a delicious, cold smoothie. It has its moments of sweetness and love, but it also has harsh, cold moments, like when you get a brain freeze. The Hunger Games is about a sixteen year old girl named Katniss, who has to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a competition to the death that is aired on television. It includes a boy named Peeta who is in love with Katniss and tries as much as he can to protect her in the arena. I love “The Hunger Games”, because of all the suspense ,and the fact that there was a love story made me want to keep reading and I wasn't able to put it down!
the hunger games (3)
The novel, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, is like having Starbucks on a chilly day. It represents the warm moments whereas the cold chilly day is the brutal and provoking part of the book. The Hunger Games tells the story of 16 year old Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark; “The star crossed lovers of District 12” and they are seeking to survive the brutal 74th annual Games of the capitol. Reading this book was time well spent and had me hooked from beginning to end. Suzanne Collins succeeded on writing this outstanding novel which has a profound meaning contained in the story.
I am the Wallpaper
By:Jessica Ramos
“I am the Wallpaper” by: Mark Peter Hughes is truly an engaging read for all teens. I read this book and I enjoyed every word of it. The characters are very realistic. Mark P. wrote an exquisite piece of writing. I can’t recommend it enough! Definitely 5 STARS!!!!
The main character is 13 year-old Floey Packer. Her sister ,Lillian, is so amazing and popular. “Lillian always had to be the bride at a wedding and the corpse at a funeral(5).” This shows that Lillian always had to be the center of attention at every occasion. Floey feels as if she were the wallpaper. It’s there, but no one notices it. But that is going to change.
Lillian suddenly gets married and goes off on a month-long honeymoon. Floey decides it’s her time to shine. Armed with her trusty diary, some Zen Buddhism books, and some deep violet hair dye, who knows what will happen.
Along the way she faces different obstacles. Each one more difficult than the last.Including the arrival of her evil cousins , Richard and Tish. “As she turned around, the obnoxious little boy grew a smirk(51).” Worst of all , she finds out that her cousins have teamed-up with the devious neighbor , Billy. Together they have made a secret website called floeysprivatelife.com.The website contains a daily post of Floey`s diary entry and other deep secrets and photos.
The main themes are family and love. “Standing so close, I suddenly felt again that Wen and I had a special spiritual connection(161).” This shows how love is interpreted in the story. Wen , Floey, and Azra have been the three musketeers since the were young. As Floey and Azra grew, they started to feel emotions for Wen. They made a deal that neither of them would ever be more than friends with Wen. For years they stuck with the deal. But that might be a deal that the new Floey Packer would want to break.
I don’t know how you are still alive if you have not read this book. If you do not like books about romance , then I do not recommend this book. But if you do, then this is the perfect book for you.

i'd tell you i love you but then i'd have to kill you
Would you rather be a super spy or be with the love of your life? That is the question going through Cammie Morgan’s head in I’d Tell You I Love You but Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter. Cammie is the daughter of two spies and one in training herself. When she goes on her first mission, she’s blown away by Josh, a normal local. I loved this book because it had a bit of romance, some fighting, and painted a vivid picture in my mind. Which one will she choose?

Inheritance
Reading Inheritance was like jumping out of an airplane a thousand feet in the air. It was thrilling, scary and amazing all at once. There is so much involved with the story, but at the same time it wasn't hard to follow along. The plot, theme and characters were all carefully thought out. The author did an amazing job with the story and I know whoever reads it, is going to love it.
ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHIN
Have you ever been alone without anybody by your side for a day ? If not , can you even imagine being alone for 7 years? Have you ever realised that you should have done something , or said something to someone but now you can't because they're gone? Have you ever felt regret? Most of those questions that I've asked you are what happens to a girl around her late/middle teens in a book called "Island of the Blue Dolphins". This story has a lot of emotion going on all at once, because at first you’re exultant, then all of a sudden it makes you feel depressed for Karana’s loss and confused, and makes you think, “Why did this have to happen?”, or “ Couldn’t they have just stayed with the deal?” Besides that, I really love the story "Island of the Blue Dolphins " because of its complex lessons , and thrilling plot. I love how it shows you the trials and hardships that Karana has to go through and the way it makes you feel that you are in her head thinking with her.
THE MEMOIRS OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
Sometimes, you have to solve the mysteries in life. In The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes, and his partner Doctor John Watson, solve mysteries and crimes together in this great anthology. You go on multiple adventures solving mysteries and crimes with them. I really think this is a good, but not excellent book.
The main characters of this anthology are Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Sherlock Holmes is a consulting detective. He is famous for being able to accurately assess logical reasoning, and his use of forensic science. I think they are both, interesting and convincing characters. Although, I don’t think Holmes is as convincing as Watson. I think Holmes is a bit too talented than a person can be. He can identify little things that other people would miss AND he could take someone’s identity to accurately, “disguise as/become them”. John Watson is described as a skilled shooter and an excellent doctor and surgeon. He is Sherlock Holmes’ partner.
The stories in this anthology are Silver Blaze, The Adventure of the Cardboard Box, The Adventure of the Yellow Face, The Adventure of the Stockbroker's Clerk, The Adventure of the Gloria Scott, The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual, The Adventure of the Reigate Squire, The Adventure of the Crooked Man, The Adventure of the Resident Patient, The Adventure of the Greek Interpreter, The Adventure of the Naval Treaty, and The Final Problem. In every story each plot is, indeed, mystifying and suspenseful. You would get sucked further into every adventure by the minute.
I think you can, actually, learn from the theme of the book. The theme is, that, even though some thing aren’t your “business”, your the only one that is able to do it. I think this theme is, pretty, important, because people, also, need your help, even if they think they don’t need it. It also teaches you you’re needed in the world. It makes you think that you are not just something in the world made to die, but something useful.
In conclusion to this book review, I recommend this book to people who loves classics, and just love to sit down and read. This book is very exciting, but at the same time, very simple. The characters are just very well thought out, and the theme is very well said. All in all, I think this ingenious piece of literature deserves to be introduced to the new generation.

Out of my mind
The main character of Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper, whose name is Melody, has an exceptionally convincing, atrocious disability which limits her body. Not her brain, however. Melody turns out to be a very intellectual girl, despite her appearance. She has a very keen photographic memory, and she can remember anything thrown at her, sucking it up like a cold smoothie on a hot summer day. Despite her knowledgeable state, no one (even her doctors and teachers) knows how smart she is, aside from her parents, next door neighbor, and personal aide at school (even though they cannot hear her smarts, they believe that she is). She aches to have a voice, to talk, to release the vast ocean of words trapped in her head. Finally, she does find something that could help her do just that.
Let’s start with Melody. She’s just a ten-year-old elementary school student. At the age of five, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a disability which kept her from learning how to walk and talk. Some people who didn’t get to know her probably think she’s just ‘retarded’, but she’s more than that. Since she can’t talk and tell anyone how sharp-witted she is, she finds herself listening to the same kindergarten based lessons everyday.
The plot of this exceptional book is very hard to recount, but it was very well organized. Every event and complication led to the next, and if you explained one event a little too much, you’d probably spoil a lot for a future reader. We watched Melody grow and learn, also watching her find her voice and her place. For example, while in music class, Melody was talking with a friend about the uncanny Jazz music the teacher was playing. The two laughed so hard, the teacher has to tell them to shush. “Never in my life have I had a teacher tell me to be quiet because I was talking to somebody in class! It was the best feeling in the world! I felt like the rest of the kids.” (101).
The theme of this book is also very hard to illustrate, but the main theme is probably to never give up. For example, even if Melody’s chances of actually talking and freeing her words easily (without the aid of a plastic talking board with simple words pasted on them) were slim, she found an easier alternative and still did even find her voice.
Overall, this breathtaking novel by Sharon Draper really left me with a new look on the world. This book had so many lessons that I picked up and learned from fast. Melody had gone through so many hardships, and resolved them easily with a dimpled smile. This book is just astonishing in many many ways I can’t set out, because I probably will spoil the whole book. I truly recommend this book to people who want to just relax and get away from the world with a tremendously inspiring fiction novel.

the maze runner
The book The Maze Runner by James Dashner is like a race car, fast paced and action packed. Thomas is a 16 year old boy who just woke up in a large metal box with his memory wiped. When the box opens he finds himself in a place called the Glade with two dozen other boys. Come to find out, he is in a giant maze. The book follows Thomas as he and the others try to find a way out. Over all it is a good book. The characters are well developed and the plot is always interesting. There is something new happening in every chapter. The Maze Runner is a very well written novel and I enjoyed reading it.
Thomas is a sixteen year old boy who has been through so much in a short period of time. Just a few days after arriving in the Glade, he is out in a maze battling giant monsters! Although so much has happened to Thomas, he is still brave, courageous and resilient. He shows a lot of emotion that you can almost feel by reading it. His sarcastic jokes show the lighter side of him, but he is also very deep. He risks his own life to help people that he has only known for a few days. The way he develops feelings about other characters, both good and bad, is intriguing and makes you want to see the interactions between them. Over all he is a very well developed and believable character.
The plot of The Maze Runner is unique and enthralling. The fact that it takes place in a giant maze is pretty interesting. Thomas woke up with his memory wiped. He found himself in the Glade with other teen boys. Every day they eat, work, and sleep. Thomas is elected to be a runner, someone who goes out in the maze, after he shows his bravery by fighting off monsters called grievers. He and a few others go out and try to solve the maze everyday. The plot can get confusing at times, but the story always manages to get back on track. It never really leaves you hanging except at the end of a few chapters when there is a twist.
The theme of the book is kind of cliche. It is never give up. Every day the boys risk their lives to try to solve the maze. Even though they have tried for two years without succeeding they have never given up. Even when things look their grimmest, the boys still try. that is why I think the theme is to never give up. I think this is a theme to live by.
In conclusion, I think The Maze Runner is an exceptional book. The characters are dynamic, the plot is fantastic, and the theme is not original, but is still great. This is a four out of five star book in my mind. I was drawn in from the start. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
Pretty Little Liars (1)
Have you ever felt like you were being watched ? In the book “Pretty Little Liars” , It’s not the most pleasant feeling for four Rosewood girls Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer. Ever Since the girls’ best friend, Alison DiLaurentis, had disappeared three years ago, the girls had drifted apart.
pretty little liars (2)
How would you feel if your whole life suddenly changed? Everything you knew changed in an instant.
nature of the beast
Nature of the beast is like studying, it is boring and i don't like it.
While it does does help you by using good descriptive words while the characters are talking. That is all it mostly does is have people talk.the few action scenes that it has are short and spread out. The plot is compelling though but it only starts being compelling when you're about to the tenth chapter that is when it starts to have more action than just talking. The most boring part of the book is when it starts it doesn't really hook you into the book. The first four chapters are really boring and that made me not want to read it.While the plot is believable it has been used a lot of times and there are a lot of books with a similar plot .There are some holes in the book but that is because it is not the only book in the series. The plot is not unique as i said it has many books with a very similar plot.
The characters are realistic in the sense that they would do things that normal humans would do but then again they are not humans they are aliens from another world. they sometimes don't make the decisions i would do sometimes because some of the main characters are from an alien world that have people to be as close to perfect as they can. they all have good posture are smart, tall, and muscular even from a young age. all the character no matter from what planet they are from are intelligent.
In the end the book turned out to be a good book the only problem was from the beginning to the beginning of the middle.the pot was ok but not that thrilling. i would not recommend this book to people who don't have patience like me.

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer
Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham is about Theo Boone who dreams of being a great lawyer or judge one day. In the middle of the on-going murder trial, Theo gets information that could change the whole trial. Overall I think this is a really good book.
You will be glued to Theodore Boone by John Grisham, it has mystery, suspense, and much more. Theo is the son of two lawyers who he admires very much. When Theo gets the information about the trial he has to make a decision that could change the trial but hurt someone very much. In his mind he knows what he has to do.
The main character, Theodore Boone in my opinion is not very believable. I think this because I don’t think even with his parents being lawyers could be that smart and know that much about the law. He also gives legal advice and people wouldn’t go to a thirteen year old for legal advice. Even though he’s not believable he is still fun and interesting to read about. He also has great qualities and that’s another thing I like about him.
I think the plot in this book is extraordinary even though it took me a while to figure out what the plot was about. Theo’s family around him are all lawyers, that’s why he’s so interested in the law. There is a murder trial going on and it’s the biggest news in their town. Theo gets very into the trial and gets information that could change the whole thing.
Throughout the book you learn about the truth and the trial. You figure out the theme as the book goes on and I think it is a wonderful theme. I think you should really pay attention to the theme because there is a lesson in all of them.
In conclusion I think Theodore Boone is a great book for teens and pre- teens. There is a lot of in detail in it so that makes it even better. Also the character’s are amazing and so is the whole book.

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer (2)
Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer
Have you ever read a book that is the same as getting coal for Christmas? If you haven’t and plan not to, don’t read Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer. It’s intriguing, boring, and very stupid. Theres a point in the story where Theo and his father, Woods Boone, are going to a golf-course to investigate where the murder of Pete Duffy’s wife occurred, and then, as soon as they get there, they forget why they’re there and start playing a regular golf game (pg. 221-229). That was very aggravating to have all that suspense, and then it gets flushed down the toilet! It’s also very stupid at times as well as annoying, like when Theo’s government class went to the courthouse and then it tells what happens in there as well. I mean, what’s the point of describing something that’s happening in the courtroom and has no effect of furthering the plot, like telling someone you have to take a massive dump at the dinner table, when you’re eating a stew, or even worse, meatloaf.
It times it is good, like when Theo has to get this witness to testify in the courtroom. Sounds dumb at first, I know, but it turns out this guy is an illegal alien and doesn’t even look at cop, let alone walk into a courtroom. He is also is taking care of his family thats in El Salvador and needs a very, I mean, VERY, VERY good reason for Theo to talk him into getting at least 3ft. from the nearest courthouse (pg. 109-117). Theres also another time where Theo sneaks into the ventilation shaft above the courtroom. Its cheesy and kind of reminds me of an old Spy movie.
The theme is common, but isn’t worded the same as others. The theme basically is that when you know something bad happened, you should go run and tell an adult that you know what really happened. Its so stupid and boring. The editor could have done a better job and told John to not write something so silly and childish. And John should have used common sense and wrote a REAL novel, not such a childish one.
The conclusion of the book is very stupid as well, it ends where Theo helps a woman get her brother out of jail. All he does is recommend her to a real lawyer, and tells her everything is going to be all right. The author should have done a lot better when he wrote this young adult book, we might be young, but we know twice as much as we should know, some of it good, and some of it bad. The book, as you can clearly see, (unless you’re blind), sucks, in a very unique way. I give Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer 2 stars out of 5 because of the incompetence that he used when writing this book.

Three Musketeers
